Lohagarh fort was made by Jat ruler, Maharaja Suraj Mal in 18th century. Lohagarh fort is the finest example of bravery by the Jat ruler. Due to its impregnable defenses the fort came to be known by name of Lohagarh. Lohagarh fort was surrounded and protected by many high walls.The main spots to visit in lohagarh are: - Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas, Moti Mahal and Kothi Khas are the main attraction of the fort. Suraj Mal built Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj inside the fort to commemorate his victories over the Mughals and the British. In the fort there is an Ashtdhatu gateway which is having huge elephant paintings Because of all these above mentioned qualities and features. Lohagarh fort was able to thwart many British attacks.
The fort is surrounded by many mud walls and these mud walls were so thick that all missiles were absorbed and the inner fort remained intact. The fort was surrounded by many moats which were filled by water when somebody attacked on the fort. Some interesting monuments in the fort are Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas and Kothi Khas. Moti Mahal and towers like Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj were erected to commemorate the victory over the Mughals and the British army.
